History
The ground has 4 stands North Stand, East Stand, Trinity Street End and Arthur Street Side. The North Stand is where the atmosphere is and is regarded as the “kop end” of the ground with terraces for standing and has bars with a roof which was built in 2012.
The East Stand is the main stand of the stadium due to the fact that it is the only part of the stadium with covered seating for 5,333 fans and media. Opposite the East Stand is the Arthur Street side where the away fans sit which has a TV Gantry, benches, a bar and a big TV screen. The Trinity Street End is found in the South side which has changing rooms, hospitality boxes, a club shop and stadium reception.
Two International rugby league fixtures have taken place at Belle Vue which were a 19-13 win for England over Wales in 1909 and a 16-16 draw between Wales and Jamaica in 2016. Nineteen tour matches have been played at the ground between the years of 1907 and 1990 hosting either Australia or New Zealand against Wakefield Trinity or Yorkshire. Lacrosse has been played at Belle Vue as have cycling events following a redevelopment in the 1890s which built a cycling track.
Wakefield FC played their football matches at the ground in 2000-2006 and 2012-2014, however, the club wound up in 2014. Leeds United reserves also played at the ground from time to time, however, now play their games at Elland Road along with the first team.
