History
The name “Sixways” is due to its location near Junction 6 on the M5 which splits off into 6 directions. Construction on the stadium began in 1998 following a grant from the National Lottery before being renovated in 2008. In April 2016, the pitch was upgraded into becoming an artificial pitch and the third Premiership rugby stadium to do so.
4 stands make up the ground: the East, South, North and West stands. The East Stand is the biggest stand which includes a restaurant, hospitality boxes, supporters bar, programme booths, food outlet and 3 suites. Outside the stand, you’ll find the club reception, the Sixways store and a ticket office.
The South Stand has 30 hospitality boxes along with bars for both hospitality fans and terraced stand. On the opposite side, the North Stand is home to Family season ticket holders and has plans in place to increase the capacity and improve the overall look of the stadium.
The West Stand has the Clubhouse Bar and a food counter along with the changing rooms for the players, an indoor training center and offices. There’s also suites with more bars and a dance floor which has a live band performing following every home match. On the second floor there is an International Rugby Bar which has memorabilia from the sport and a dining area for debenture holders.
Another sport that was held at Sixways Stadium was an American Football encounter in both 2010 and 2016 between London Blitz, Coventry Jets and London Warriors. 3 LV Cup finals have taken place at the stadium with the 2009/10, 2011/12 and 2012/13 finals all taking place at the ground.
